Your phone follows a standard time zone. Solar Time follows the apparent Sun for the selected place.

During the day it runs from sunrise to sunset. At night it runs from sunset to the next sunrise. The marker means now.

SOLAR’s illustrated sky uses an artistic local cloud presentation by default; it is not a live camera view or a reconstruction of your surroundings. If you enable the optional weather-aware sky, SOLAR uses Apple Weather through WeatherKit to adapt the atmosphere for your selected place. The main clock and sky continue to work when weather data is unavailable.

Use an AR-capable iPhone, allow camera and location access when prompted, then open AR from the sky view. Move the phone slowly outdoors or near a clear window; AR updates stop when you leave the AR screen.

Pair an Apple Watch with the iPhone, install SOLAR on the watch, open Today, and add the next sunrise or sunset complication from the watch face editor. The watch shows the last synchronized context if the phone is unavailable.

High-latitude states fail closed. SOLAR does not invent an unavailable event, and rules remain ready for the next date on which that event exists.
